So much for summer vacation. August has been a busy month for our Action Network with email alerts ranging from endangered species to offshore drilling to transportation choices, and more.

Cheap oil—once the lifeblood of our country's economy—now has us in a stranglehold.

There are no quick fixes to this dilemma. We need creative and innovative solutions for both short- and long-term action.

Tell us your ideas—big and small—for how you, your family, and our country can rethink the way we live and work in a time when oil doesn't come cheap.

Here are several highlights from the last week:

• Senator Voinovich's Sham Global Warming Proposal — Take action to urge your Senators to oppose "hoax" proposal.
• Ten Senators to Watch — The Senate is poised to vote on landmark global warming legislation. Here are ten Senators to watch.
• CO₂ and Methane Rose Sharply in 2007 — Our climate scientist examines the sharp increase in CO₂ and methane.
• Economy Will be Strong Under Climate Bill — A federal agency study "should settle the question" on whether we can afford to climate action.
• Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and Environmental Defense Fund Announce First-of-Its-Kind "Green Portfolio" Partnership.

Our Chief Health Scientist, Dr. John Balbus, will take questions on the link between public health and global warming until 12 noon EDT, Friday, April 25.
